“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. (Luke 15:22)
I had just started university and was becoming extremely sick of the Singaporean grind. It felt like everyone around me was chasing after success and grades. People around me seemed to be caring more about their lives than to know God. In Luke 7:36-38, there was a woman who barged into the Pharisee’s house where Jesus was reclining at, who broke her alabaster flask of ointment. In Luke 10:38-42, Mary dropped everything just to sit at Jesus’ feet. My cry is for us to see the exceeding worth of God, that we’d give everything just to be after Him.

Lyrics
VERSE 1
Slow it down
Come taste and see
Find a place here at His feet
Fear and worry have no hold
In the place I’m fully known
PRE-CHORUS
Where Your Spirit is there I am free
And with unveiled face I'll finally see
VERSE 2
Come and listen to His voice
Hear the broken heart rejoice
“Here’s your ring here is your robe”
Here the sinner finds a home
CHORUS
Oh, just to sit at Your feet
And oh, just to drink from the cup in Your hands
Jesus, You’re all that my heart is after
Oh, just one look of Your eyes I’m undone
Just one glimpse of Your face and I’m changed
Jesus, You’re all that my heart is after
BRIDGE
Even in my questioning
Even in my waiting
Even in the suffering
Still I’m after You, God I’m after You
Even when things don’t make sense
When I’ve come right to the end
Find my heart without offense
Still I’m after You, God I’m after You
“Even when things don’t make sense / When I’ve come right to the end / Find my heart without offense / Still I’m after you / God I’m after you”
Earlier last year, my dad passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack. It felt as though my entire world crumbled. Yet day by day, Holy Spirit was challenging me to learn to trust Him even when things didn’t make sense, to build my foundation on Him. The most brutally honest moment I had with Holy Spirit was when He asked me “Wilbert, are you offended with me when things don’t go your way?” I felt that God was excavating pride and anger, and was replacing it with a heart posture of humility and trust in the consistent nature of God.
