And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. (Revelation 21:3)
This song came from one of our songwriting retreats. We were meditating on Psalm 132 and what stood out to me was how the psalmist was all in - "I will not give sleep to my eyes; or slumber to my eyelids; until I find a place for the LORD; a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob" It's hard to be as committed as that when we have our doubts and what-ifs, but the psalmist also reminds us of God's sure promise of Jesus' eternal reign.
God, help my unbelief in Your promises and lead me deeper into desire and desperation to build you a dwelling place in my life.
I hope you'll share this prayer with me.
- Jonathan Boey
Lyrics
VERSE
Remember oh Lord, Your children
We’re seeking Your face
We’ve come now to build Your temple
Your resting place
PRE-CHORUS
Arise, oh Lord
Almighty One
With shouts of joy
We give praise to the Son
CHORUS
Your promises are sure
Your Word, it will endure
That You would dwell among Your people
Like You’ve wanted all along
Unto the One who sits on the throne
All glory and honour to You alone
Jesus, You will reign forever
To our God we raise our song
BRIDGE
You’ll be our God
We’ll be Your people
(Arise, oh God)
(Come to Your people)
"That You would dwell among Your people / Like You've wanted all along"
God's plan has always been about a relationship - we're just responding; just reciprocating His desire for relationship. Yes, Lord - have Your way.
